A UNIQUE CORRESPONDENCE.

From the early days of World War II, come these rather special envelopes
( some in weak condition ) from the heartland of the Third Reich, i.e.
Germany & Austria ( Hitler's birthplace),all addressed to
'The Jewish Daily Forward' in New York City.

The reverse of each envelope features the Nazi Censorship tape,
placed on every piece of "reviewed" mail, oftentimes over the entry slit.
The Censorship tape itself reads 'Geöffnet' ( opened ) with the seal of the
Commander in Chief of the Wehrmacht ( Armed Forces ).
