Here is what has got to be the best value for your buck, 100 of the same
beautiful postage stamps for a Dollar! From Papua New Guinea comes
this 5c stamp of 1968 showing the 'marble cone shell ( Conus marmoreus )*'.
What can you do with all these stamps, you ask ?
Use your imagination!
A marine snail of the subclass Prosobranchia ( class Gastropoda ) comprising
the genus Conus and the family Conidae. The shell is straight-sided,
with a tapering body whorl, low spire, and narrow aperture
( the opening into the shell's first whorl ).
Cones inject a paralyzing toxin by means of a dart. The usual prey are worms,
mollusks and the occasional fish. Most of these lovely checkered patterned
cones are found in the waters around Papua New Guinea
.
