On December 26, 1991 a monumental event occurred ...
The Soviet SocialistRepublic ( CCCP ) broke apart
after approximately73 years of Communist rule.
This gave way to a new country with the name ' Russia ' ( ROSSIJA ).

We offer here the very last series of postage stamps ( in mint condition ) issued
by the CCCP ( 12 December, 1991 ) depicting four historians
( V.N. Tatischev, N.M. Karamzin, S.M. Soloviev, V.O. Kluchevski ).
And the very first set of postage stamps ( in mint condition ) released
by Russia ( 10 January 1992 ), featuring its participation
in the Albertville Winter Olympic Games
