From post-offices throughout France ( departments, colonies - mostly Alger, etc.), come these wonderful, perforated thick paper telephone 'prepayment' cards, with imprinted 40cts value all within a border of "République Française" and a seated Miss Liberty.
Virtually every Bureau des Postes had a telephone during this pre-World War I era, whereas there were few in private homes. After using this ' pre-paid voucher ' the local postal person would hand cancel each one with a marker showing the date and location of the phonecall. Generally in very fine condition, all pre - 1910, with neat cancels.
