Postal bonds seems to be quite a unique way of extracting more money from the populace, and so Italy used this scheme quite successfully for many years. Of the many types issued, the 'planter' or 'sower' variety, showing a farmer in the field about to throw a handful of grain-seeds, is by far the most attractive. These are all denominated as 50,000 Lire and feature a decorative border, along with an embossed seal in the center bottom portion. The reverse shows the payback table along with the purchase and redemption hand cancels.
