From the closing years of the 19th Century comes these checks from a general merchandise store ( A.B. Hollinger ) in the midst of Amish Country featuring an unusual portrait of President Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln ( also known as Honest Abe, The Rail Splitter and The Great Emancipator ) was born February 12, 1809, near Hodgenville, Kentucky and died April 15, 1865 in Washington, D.C.

Among American and world heroes, Lincoln has unique appeal. His charm derives from a most remarkable life story; his rise from humble origins to become the 16th President of the United States, his assassination and his distinctively humane personality. He was the savior of the Union and emancipator of the slaves.

Each of these checks from the Lincoln National Bank is in very nice condition.
