18TH CENTURY BANK OF VENICE PAPER MONEY
Featured here are the 10 Ducati valued Banknotes of Banco Giro di Venezia, All dated October 1798.Each bears two signatures, an embossed seal and a handwritten number.
There are two vignettes on each note; the double headed eagle and the lion of Venice complete with wings, opened book and flagged castle.
On the left border there is a known anti - counterfeiting device common in the 18th Century. these wavy lines were matched up with the templates held at the bank's headquarters to determine if the notes were genuine.
Each is in very fine condition
